Meet Miss Willie Brown
A&M/Octone Records’ first country act is the vibrant new female duo Miss Willie Brown. Comprised of Amanda Watkins from West Virginia and Texas native Kasey Buckley, the two girls met waiting tables at a BBQ joint and instantly bonded over a deep love of songwriting and country music. With raw, honky-tonk-style emotion and irresistible rock & roll swagger, the duo is both a reminder of the classic power of a song and a fresh look toward music’s future.
“Amanda can write music that sounds like what I’m saying,” says Kasey, describing the pair’s chemistry, “and I can write words that sound like her music. We don’t believe in coincidences. We definitely believe that we were brought together for a reason.”
In an unique dynamic, Kasey and Amanda not only share writing credits on each song, but unlike most lead-and-harmony groups, the two split lead vocals. Sharing that duty, especially onstage, ignites an electric energy that likens their live show to a hurricane meeting a volcano.
“I love the Rolling Stones AND Lynyrd Skynyrd,” says Amanda. “Some people think that’s not ladylike”but we don’t want to just give you music, we want to entertain you.”
Miss Willie Brown is currently in the studio working on their first major label EP with award winning producer, Keith Stegall, who has worked with the likes of Zac Brown Band, Alan Jackson and George Strait.
Beginning March 17, Miss Willie Brown will join chart-topping country music star Dierks Bentley on the 2011 “Jagermeister Country Tour.” The 30-city tour runs through mid-May and also features special guest Josh Thompson.
