Mel Tillis Recovering From Heart Surgery

Country Music Hall of Famer Mel Tillis is recovering in Music City today after undergoing heart surgery over the weekend.

His daughter, famed country singer Pam Tillis, released the following statement this morning. “Over the weekend, Daddy required a routine heart procedure. He’s doing fantastic and is expected to make a full recovery. In typical Mel Tillis fashion, he’s already cutting up and cracking jokes with the nurses. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.”

The 81-year-old legend former CMA Entertainer of the Year has recorded 60 albums throughout his career. He’s also earned 35 Top Ten singles and is a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
