Michael Ray Wins The CW’s ‘The Next’

Country newcomer Michael Ray was crowned winner of the inaugural season of The CW’s “The Next” on Thursday. The Eustis, FL native will receive a recording contract with Atlantic Records. On the show, Ray was mentored by John Rich.

“You earned it, buddy,” Rich said as he hugged Ray on the finale.

Overcome with emotion, Ray thanked everyone who has helped him along the way. “I thank God … the fans, my dad, my grandpa, my grandmother,” he said.
