Mickey Guyton Discusses Her Struggles To Success on ‘The Talk’

Getting into the music business is never a walk in the park. Mickey Guyton had the guts, courage and talent to follow her dream of becoming a country artist despite facing adversity.

While visiting the daytime talk show, The Talk, Guyton explained her gumption to persevere in such trying times to the hosts and told the audience about how she believed she needed to go for her goals no matter what the cost.

“Life is so short and as we all know, we owe it to ourselves like if we have a dream and an ambition, we have to pursue it because you will wake up before you know it and all of that opportunity is just passed,” Guyton said to the fellow hosts.

The country singer also gave credit to her parents for teaching her how to work hard for what she wanted and admitted to working at Nordstrom’s even after she got signed for her record deal.

Joined by fellow female country artist Jennifer Nettles, Guyton posed the question of accomplishing goals despite roadblocks to the rest of the table. The advice Nettles brought up was to encourage anyone to just do their thing whatever it may be. Aisha Tyler shared a similar outlook to Guyton, explaining that she didn’t want to miss out on trying if the opportunity was there. Sharon Osbourne also told a past story of sexism in the workplace where she felt as if she was lesser to the men in her industry.

Guyton will be taking over our red carpet coverage for the 51st Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, which airs live tonight at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
