Country trio Midland are embracing the wide world of streaming by launching a podcast, Set It Straight with Midland, and dropping an Amazon Original cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game.”

The podcast, which streams exclusively on Spotify, centers around the strange and shocking stories from country music history as the band members, along with special guests like Tanya Tucker, attempt to set the record straight and judge the truthfulness of each tale. Its first episode dropped on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

“Much of the inspiration behind Midland comes from our country music heroes and the legacy they’ve left for us to learn from,” the trio explained. “Their tall tales are things of lore, and we are taking the immense challenge of uncovering the truth and setting their stories straight.”

Midland’s work with streaming platforms does not stop at podcasts. After performing it to fans on tour, the band also released a cover of rockabilly singer Chris Isaak’s hit “Wicked Game” exclusively on Amazon Music on Friday, Sept. 20 (listen here: amzn.to/midland).

Stretching the song to a whopping six-minute run time, the trio adds their signature classic country twang and instrumental embellishments to the track, making the tune their own.

“’Wicked Game’ has always been a favorite of ours to cover live,” Midland shared. “Getting to record our studio version for Amazon was a challenging and rewarding experience, and we hope Chris thinks we did it justice.”

Fans can find the cover on Amazon Music’s “Fresh Country” playlist and check out the first episode of “Set It Straight with Midland” here.
