Country stars Miranda Lambert and Collin Raye both said goodbye to a dearly departed brother over the weekend, with the untimely passing of Lambert’s guitarist and Raye’s real-life sibling, Scotty Wray.

Wray passed away in an Arkansas care facility after a long battle with an unnamed illness on Friday night (February 18), and both took to social media to tribute the talented musician.

Posting a series of photos, Lambert wrote at length about the man who was often seen beside her on stage, but also had her back for decades behind the scenes.

Likewise, ’90s hit maker Collin Raye (real name Floyd Elliot Wray) wrote of the details behind his older brother’s passing. Despite his illness, the singer said Scotty’s death was still a heartbreaking shock. The brothers had worked together throughout their lives, even hitting the country charts with their band The Wrays in the ’80s.
