Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are early ACM winners as the first two awards of the ceremony were announced yesterday. At a ceremony at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Miranda Lambert was announced as the winner of Video of the Year for “White Liar,” and Blake took home the award for Vocal Event of the Year for “Hillbilly Bone” which also featured Trace Adkins.
“It was a total surprise,” Lambert said. “I really wasn’t sure what I was coming to do. I was afraid I was going to have to talk in public. I can sing in public, but I can’t talk in public. Then they presented me with the award. I was looking at the names in the category, and it was really anybody’s game.”
Miranda is up for 5 other awards during tonight’s televised ceremony.
The Vocal Event of the Year award was Shelton’s first ever ACM trophy and Adkins’ third.
