Miranda Lambert participated in CMT’s special, CMT Celebrates Our Heroes, which is honoring the frontline workers who have stayed on the job during the COVID-19 pandemic. Lambert was introduced by actress Scarlett Johansson, and chose to honor a category of essential workers that is close to her heart: first responders. Seated on what she calls her “magic porch,” which is adorned with illuminated letters and an antique-looking carousel horse, she shared her appreciation for these workers.

“I want to tell everyone that I’m so thankful and still praying so hard for all the first responders,” she says. “I come from a family of police officers and firemen and cops, and I’m married to an NYPD officer. I just want y’all to know that you mean the world to us and we could not thank you enough for all you’re doing.”

With just her pink guitar for backup, she sang an acoustic rendition of her latest single, “Bluebird,” while the camera panned back and forth. After Lambert’s performance Johansson returned to the screen to introduce a story about Corporal Rick Vanderclock, a New Jersey police officer who, after becoming sick and losing his father, returned to the front lines to help his community through the pandemic.

Lambert is among many country artists participating in CMT Celebrates Our Heroes to honor the frontline workers during the pandemic. The special is in place of the CMT Artists Of The Year. Find out how you can help here.
