Miranda Lambert Offers Musical Medicine on ‘ACM Presents: Our Country’
This was just perfect.
Miranda Lambert reminded viewers that “music is medicine” in her ACM Presents: Our Country performance, delivering a down-home rendition of “Bluebird.”
Singing from her Tennessee front porch as a creek babbled in the background, Lambert delivered a much-needed prescription with her time on the show — which itself was a replacement for the postponed 55th ACM Awards. She first proclaimed that we are all in this fight against COVID-19 together, even though we are physically apart, and asked everyone to lean into music as a way to get through. Then she delivered a few lines of “Bluebird,” looking to brighter days ahead.
With her voice sounding just as crisp and light as the song’s namesake, she sang sweetly of staying positive, even when times are tough. Part of her recently released Wildcard album, the uplifting track normally features a windblown-Western feel, but took on the intimate feel of a lullaby on Lambert’s porch — all comfort and soothing confidence.
Originally scheduled to air Sunday, the 55th ACM Awards have been postponed until September 16 due to the coronavirus outbreak. ACM Presents: Our Country took the award ceremony’s place, filled with at-home performances by Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and more.
