Miranda Lambert will go to great lengths to help an animal in need, and apparently her husband Brendan will as well — even if that means pulling over on the highway. Lambert recently posted photos of the 4-5 week old kitten the couple saved after her husband spotted it on a road in Texas.

“Two lane highway in Texas, speed limit 70,” Lambert writes in the post. “Brendan slows down and does a U-turn… Me to B: ‘why are you turning around?’ B to me: ‘there’s a kitten in the road and I knew you would kill me if I saw it and didn’t stop.’ Well I guess the rescue ways are rubbing off on him.”

The photos Lambert shared of the kitten include one of Miranda holding it and a photo of it sitting on Brendan’s shoulder while he drove. She also posted a photo of the kitten laying on her dad, writing, “Dad has a new bestie.” The kitten rode nine hours back to Nashville with the couple and three dogs in the car. The couple named the cat “Tequila,” which is a nod to Lambert’s song “Tequila Does” on her latest album, Wildcard.

Since arriving home, Lambert has posted a few Instagram stories featuring Tequila, including one where the kitten was a little feisty before bedtime.

“Who wants to go to bed? Me. Who wants to party? #tequiladoes,” she writes, as Tequila swats her hand playfully.

Lambert has been sharing many of her adventures this spring and summer since being off the road. One of those adventures involved the purchase of an Airstream trailer and a road trip from Nashville to New York with her husband.
