Miranda Lambert Reveals How She Relates to ‘Tin Man’

"Everyone knows what the Tin Man represents–cold, and empty, and loneliness, and heartless…and it just opened my eyes to it even more going through pain myself, you know, sort of an epiphany,” Lambert shared.

Honesty is the best policy for songwriters like Miranda Lambert, and she laid her heart out on the line in her new single, “Tin Man.”

Covering a range of emotional topics like loneliness and broken hearts, Lambert conveys the empty feeling that one can experience after going through a tough time. Although she’s been through the ups and downs over the past couple years, the country singer wasn’t afraid to show how she’s felt in some of her vulnerable moments and wanted to showcase her struggles through her latest release.

“Whatever influenced you the most, at whatever time in your life, somewhere or another comes out in your art. The Tin Man. I guess, going through a lot of times where I felt empty, I understood a whole new meaning, I mean, how many times have we seen The Wizard Of Oz, but it’s something that world shares…everyone knows what the Tin Man represents–cold, and empty, and loneliness, and heartless…and it just opened my eyes to it even more going through pain myself, you know, sort of an epiphany,” she shared recently.

Baring her soul in both terms of ‘The Nerve’ and ‘The Heart’ on her double album, The Weight of These Wings, Lambert allowed “Tin Man” to lead the way for the more emotive portion of the project. While she may not be channeling those same feelings now that she’s back on her game and happy with boyfriend Anderson East, she still recognizes the pain she once connected to now that the single has hit the airwaves.

Lambert will be playing some festivals and performances in the U.S. throughout the summer before heading across the pond for a handful of concerts in the U.K. and Ireland later this year.
