Miranda Lambert Talks ACM Awards, Blake Shelton, & Wedding Plans

Miranda Lambert woke up bright and early on Tuesday to announce the 46th Annual Academy of Country Music nominations with Ronnie Dunn. Lambert earned an impressive seven nominations, including a nod for the coveted Entertainer of the Year award. She says she’s still trying to comprehend the great news.

“I only found out all of the nominations when everybody else did, so I didn't really have a lot of time to process, but I didn't know that I was eligible for seven,” Lambert said Tuesday. So it kind of came out of nowhere, but I'm thrilled.”

She and her soon to be husband, Blake Shelton, are going head to head in the Video of the Year category this time around.

“No matter what it is – awards or No. 1’s, skeet shooting or fishing – there’s always good, friendly competition between us,” Lambert told People on Tuesday.

“Sometimes it’s not so friendly,” she added with a laugh.

Lambert says Shelton is “really excited about co-hosting the ACM Awards with Reba [McEntire].”

“I’m not nervous for him,” she said. “I’m nervous for Reba and the audience. You don’t have any idea what he might say and it’s a live show. They definitely need that five second delay.”

Miranda has a lot to look forward to this year. She recently announced a new tour, she’s up for three GRAMMY Awards, and she’s performing on the GRAMMYs later this month. How does she have time for wedding planning?

“We’re really busy. I still have a few months to go but there’s a lot going on. I’m excited about all of it, and I’m excited to get married.”

“The anticipation of it all is a lot,” she said. “I’m kind of ready to say, ‘Okay, let’s have this wedding and be married.’

The Lambert-Shelton nuptials will take place later this spring.
