Miranda Lambert Plants Tree In Honor Of Her Dog, Waylon
She found Waylon and his sister on the side of the road many years ago.
Miranda Lambert is commemorating her dog Waylon who recently passed away with a tree planted in his honor. Lambert shared a photo of the tree on her Instagram story, writing, “Planted this tree at the farm for my sweet dog Waylon that we lost.” In the next story, she included a photo of an engraved marker that reads, “Your paws left prints on our heart Waylon.” Lambert then thanked a few of her friends who gifted her the tree.
Lambert announced the passing of Waylon, one of her many pets, on October 22nd on social media. The post included photos of the golden retriever along with the story about how Lambert rescued him and his sister, Jessi, from the side of the road.

“Today I lost one of my best friends. My old pal Waylon,” she wrote. “I found him and his sister on the side of the road in Oklahoma in January 2008. They were abandoned , starving and freezing nearly to death. I was listening to Jessi Colter and Waylon Jennings at the time me and mom saw them and pulled over to pick them up.”
Although Waylon’s prognosis looked bleak due to the fact that the dog was clearly taking care of his sister, Lambert took him in and helped him pull through.
“I took them straight to the vet and she told me that the little boy was not doing too well (malnourished and dehydrated ) because whatever they had found to eat while they were homeless, he always let her eat first,” she wrote. “He did that nearly his whole life. She said he probably wouldn’t make it but he did. For almost 13 years. He was a rock in our family and always held down the fort. He lived his life with no fences. The way we all want to live.”
