Montgomery Gentry Cancels Fair Appearance Following Hunter Montgomery’s Death

Montgomery Gentry has cancelled their appearance at the North Georgia State Fair following the death of Eddie Montgomery’s 19-year-old son, Hunter.

The duo was slated to appear at the fair on Wednesday (9/30). Concert organizers posted a message to the fair’s Facebook page to alert fans that the show has been cancelled and asked fans to keep the Montgomery family their prayers.

Hunter, who was Eddie’s youngest of four children, passed away on Sunday after being put on life support following an unspecified accident.

“My son Hunter went to heaven today,” said Montgomery in a statement to the press after his son’s death. “I appreciate all your prayers and love and thank you for giving us privacy as we grieve and say goodbye.”

According to Hunter’s obituary, funeral services will be held on Thursday (10/1) in Nicholasville, KY. The family requested that memorial donations be sent to Nashville’s Room in the Inn.

According to their website, Montgomery Gentry’s next scheduled appearance is Friday (10/2) at the Grand Ole Opry.
