Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans always look so happy in love when they get together, but that doesn’t stop them from following their own dreams if it means sacrificing the quality time.

During a recent interview, Ballerini gushed on the ways that her and Evans keep the spark alive and maintaining their marriage despite being in separate cities the majority of the time. Although long-distance phone calls and last-minute flights may sound like a task for some couples, Ballerini feels grateful to have a man like Evans who prompts her to accomplish her goals over settling down.

“Find someone that lifts you up in that…I feel like, especially with a woman who wants to have a big career, I think it’s important to find a man that wants her to have that career just as much as she wants it. It was for me in my other relationships. That’s one thing that I love about Morgan is he wants me to be busy. He wants me to be fulfilled by my work as well as my relationship,” Ballerini said in the Elite Daily interview.

But the two don’t ever go too long without seeing each other though, despite their hectic schedules on the road and in the studio. Following the traditions of power couple Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Ballerini and Evans make a point to visit one another at least once every two weeks if they go even that long without hanging out with each other.

“We have a two-week rule. We’ve only broken it once,” Ballerini explained. “We learned it from Keith and Nicole; they have it. I just think as much as we are in this phase of our careers where it’s like, building the foundation and it’s really important to be busy and to be doing as much as we can, obviously our relationship comes first. We’re learning to be able to say no to things if we need to, to get to each other. Instead of going home, I’ll fly to him or vice versa. But this is definitely the year of putting in the effort.”

Although Ballerini is over the moon about her life as a newlywed, she will still promote her latest single, “I Hate Love Songs,” which is playing on country radio now.
