It’s time to ‘kiss somebody’ in celebration because Morgan Evans has the No.1 song in the country! The Australia native scored his first U.S. chart-topper on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart with his debut “Kiss Somebody.”

“I played my very first show on the other side of the world and the idea of traveling to America, let alone having the #1 song in Country music, was the dream. And, this week it has come true!” said Evans. “I can’t even begin to express how overwhelmed I am with gratitude. THANK YOU to the fans and everyone at country radio for all the love you’ve given back to this song.”

Co-written by Evans, Chris DeStefano and Josh Osborne, the song has garnered more than 52 million streams and cruised to number four on the iTunes Top Country Songs chart after an appearance on ABC’s The Bachelorette.

Evans’s success was celebrated by his wife, fellow country singer Kelsea Ballerini, who praised her husband’s efforts and hard work.

“Today, my guy’s song is the number one song in country music. I’ll spare you the sap, but to watch his journey with this song the last few years has made my heart explode from happiness. You did it, babe,” she wrote with the hashtags #KissSomebody and #actuallyjustkissme.

“Kiss Somebody” is one of the five tracks featured on the singers recently released self-titled EP. The project is a hint at what to expect from his upcoming full-length project, set for release this fall.
