New York City is about to get a little taste of Tennessee as Morgan Wallen is being tapped to perform on season 46 of Saturday Night Live on October 10.

The iconic sketch comedy series announced a handful of hosts and musical guests for the upcoming season, in which the “Whiskey Glasses” singer earned the honor. He is slated to perform alongside Monday Morning Podcast host Bill Burr, who is also making his SNL debut.

Wallen posted the exciting news on Instagram, ready to take on the live action in just a week’s time.

“SNL. Some Back Forty Boys on the Big Screen. GAHT,” he captioned the sticky note photo announcement.

Fellow country stars commented on the momentous occasion, like Thomas Rhett telling Wallen to “Enjoy it bro,” and Cole Swindell encouraging, “This is all time.”

It’s quite the accomplishment when a country star makes it to the Saturday Night Live stage as many of the musical guests hail from other genres. Wallen finds himself in good company as other recent country guests include Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton and Luke Combs.

Wallen has shot to stardom over the past couple years, earning a nomination for New Artist of the Year at the 54th Annual CMA Awards and a nod in the Male Video of the Year category at the 2020 CMT Music Awards.

This year has also been a big one for Wallen in his personal life. The singer welcomed his first child into the world, Indie Wilder. Wallen introduced his son to fans in a surprise Instagram post, and shared how much love he feels as a father.

“I knew this day was coming when I got to share this news with y’all. And I’m glad that day is here. I didn’t know what being a dad would feel like, honestly have been a little scared. But it’s the coolest damn feeling, and I’m ready for whatever God has planned for me and my little guy,” he wrote.

While fans await Wallen’s episode of SNL, they can stream his current single, “7 Summers,” now.
