Sometimes, the best jokes are the ones you make about yourself, as Morgan Wallen did during his guest appearance on Saturday Night Live.

The “Chasin’ You” singer took on musical guest duties just two months after he was originally pulled from the line-up due to not following COVID-19 precautions by attending some college parties in Alabama. Not only was he called on to redeem himself by the SNL cast and crew, but he also lent his talents to a sketch poking fun at the controversy.

Set as a flashback to two months ago in Alabama, Wallen storms into a bar with no worry of consequence before being confronted by a ghost of himself, played by host Jason Bateman. His future self tries to convince him that going out is not the best idea if he wants to keep his slot on the show as Wallen reassures he has everything under control.

During a more serious part of the skit, the singer weighed the options, noting it would let his fans down if he weren’t able to keep his guest gig due to his actions.

Bateman is later joined by SNL cast member Bowen Yang as the two-month future Wallen and cast member Pete Davidson as “a random dude at the party.”
Wallen officially learns his lesson by the end of the scene, reflecting on his past by way of song.

As a part of his time on the hit comedy sketch series, Wallen also performed two of his own tracks, “7 Summers” and “Still Goin Down.”

Another musical artist made a cameo in a different sketch as rapper Eminem worked with comedian Pete Davidson to recreate the famous “Stan” hit.

Fans can check out Wallen’s latest release, “Somebody’s Problem,” on streaming services now.
