Morgan Wallen celebrated the 1st birthday of his son Indigo Wilder over the weekend. The country singer shared multiple photos from the rodeo-themed party on social media. The photos show Wallen and his son smiling for the camera as well as Indigo having a bit of trouble with his birthday cake.

“1 year of being a legend. Happy birthday, son,” wrote Morgan, adding, “And yeah I took ‘smash cake’ a little too literally.”

Wallen’s ex and Indigo’s mother, KT Smith, also posted many photos from the fun occasion. The post shows her and Indigo in matching red bandanas, a family picture with Wallen and many photos with other family members and friends. “Pure joy,” Smith wrote alongside the photos.

Wallen and Smith welcomed Indigo Wilder on July 10, 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee. Wallen once told People that he and Smith dated for years but were broken up long before Indigo was conceived. The “More Than My Hometown” singer announced the birth of his son days after he made his arrival last year.

“Since you came into the world Friday, I see mine differently now,” Wallen wrote on social media at the time. “It’s not just me anymore, and I’m glad it’s not. This year has been the hardest of my life in so many ways, but that’s not what I will remember it by. You are. You are a gift and this tough year just made sense.”

Wallen hasn’t shared many photos of his son on social media, but on June 8, he shared a snap of the two of them cuddling on a chair together. “1 more day to be my little kids dad…lord knows I’m a lucky man,” he wrote.

The celebration comes after a year of controversy surrounding Wallen, the biggest of which came after he was caught on camera uttering a racial slur among a group of friends. The inflammatory video led to the suspension of his record contract, the removal of his songs from radio and his disqualification from various awards shows, including the 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards.
