Morgan Wallen is one of country’s hottest rising stars, but the young hit maker also has another title he’s focused on — Indie Wilder’s dad.

Wallen revealed the birth of his son to fans last month, and in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Tennessee native opened up about how fatherhood has changed his point of view. Well known for party-starting anthems like “Up Down” (featuring Florida Georgia Line) and barroom ballads like “Whiskey Glasses,” Wallen admits he’s been forced to think differently.

“I think I’m always gonna be a little bit of a wild card, that’s just how I am,” he says, explaining that he wants to model his own parenting style after his father’s. “But I realized that every decision now don’t just affect me, it affects him, too. I’m trying to be more responsible!”

Meanwhile, Wallen does still have his day job to consider, and gives fans an update on his upcoming sophomore album. He’s feeling confident about strength of new material, he says, adding that fans may notice more maturity and some fresh sounds. And he says they can expect to hear a few more tracks before the album’s officially released. But as to when that will happen … well, if it wasn’t for COVID-19, he’d already be done.

“Honestly, if it wasn’t for all this going on, I would have already had it turned in and ready to go,” he says. “We’re getting there. I still don’t have any dates … but no matter what happens with COVID, it’ll be within the next six months.”

That’s good news for fans hungry for the follow up to Wallen’s third Number One, “Chasin’ You.” But lately he’s also dropped the moody “More Than My Hometown,” and is also featured on a new version of Willie Nelson’s classic, “On the Road Again.”
