‘Team Blake’ wins AGAIN…Nashville’s Craig Wayne Boyd was crowned winner of NBC’s “The Voice” Tuesday night.

Boyd, who moved to Nashville from Texas 11 years ago, almost gave up on his dream of pursuing a music career after more than a decade of struggles.

“I remember a little more than a year ago sitting in a pickup outside of a club after I had played to basically no one and talking to my drummer and saying, ‘Listen, I may have to quit because it’s not paying my bills and I’m losing my house.’ I lost my pickup. I didn’t know what I was going to do. And him telling me, ‘Dude, you can’t do that,'” the singer said during post-finale press conference.

“And then randomly the opportunity (came) up to go audition a few months out for The Voice and I was like, ‘You know what? You ought to go do that,'” said Boyd.

It appears he made the right choice.

Many thought Boyd was the underdog, and so did he. He was “caught … so off guard” when he was crowned winner that “I screamed like a girl.”

Boyd is the fourth singer from ‘Team Blake’ to win “The Voice.” That’s pretty great, considering there have been seven seasons. The singer/coach celebrated Boyd’s win in true Blake Shelton fashion saying, “It’s (bleep) awesome!”

“Yes, (I will) rub it in Adam’s face,” Shelton continued. “He may quit the show before I’m done rubbing this in his face.”

On a more serious note, Shelton couldn’t be more proud of Boyd.

“I know how much he’s put into this competition firsthand, but I’m also aware of how much he’s put into trying to make it as an artist in the music industry and the struggles and the ups and mostly the downs that he’s had. All the doors shut in his face, the carpet yanked out from under him,” he said. “And all of a sudden, here’s a guy who is the winner of The Voice’ and he’s already sold a (lot) of music. There has never been a more deserving person to hold that trophy than Craig Wayne Boyd as far as paying dues.”

Boyd isn’t the first country singer to come from the popular singing competition. Other contestants who have become mainstream country artists include The Swon Brothers, Danielle Bradbery, Cassadee Pope and RaeLynn. Gwen Sebastian has also seen success, most recently teaming up with Shelton on the hit song “My Eyes.”
