Natalie Maines To Release Solo Album, ‘Mother,’ On May 7th
Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines is set to release new music later this year. The rock album, entitled Mother, is set for a May 7th release.
The solo project is a first for the singer, who recently let her fans know that she finished the album via Twitter. “Happy Natalie Maines Finished Her Album Day everybody,” she wrote last month.
According to The Boot, Mother is produced by Ben Harper. The album name stems from her cover of the Pink Floyd song, which she performed with Harper at several of his tour dates this past summer. The song is currently featured on the soundtrack to the new documentary West of Memphis.
Dixie Chicks fans shouldn’t fear, however! This isn’t the end of the trio. Maines will be performing with the group at the 2013 Craven Country Jamboree. They’re filling in for one of Lady Antebellum, who canceled their appearance due to Hillary Scott’s pregnancy.
