She’s a critically-acclaimed actress and she can sing a song or two, but Nicole Kidman should be most known for her bug-eating skills.
While sitting down to chat with Vanity Fair recently, Kidman picked to reveal a wild fact about herself: she genuinely enjoys a nib or two of bugs. The “Secret Talent Theatre” skit sets the actress up for a four-course extravaganza filled with a variety of beastly delicacies. Her first bite in, Kidman snacks upon live hornworms which squirm around as she slides them down her throat ever so gently.
Not knowing exactly the taste of the worms, Kidman does compare the texture to a rather “moist” and “chewy” consistency. Before she takes on the next dish, she does claim that eating bugs isn’t necessarily a weird thing and that tons of people in the world participate in the culture.
“Just a little side note: two billion people eat bugs and I’m one of them,” Kidman states while preparing herself for her second round.
Munching on mealworms next, Kidman even jokes that she would be victorious in the reality series Survivor for her outdoorsy ways in dining. She crunches straight through into the third portion of the meal, which consists of crickets. Making the task look unbelievably simple, the Australian native chows down on a number of the bugs very quickly.
Kidman washes the whole thing down with fried grasshoppers as a yummy last treat. Taking a handful at a time, it doesn’t seem to bother her one bit that these little guys once wriggled around in the dirt and plants outside.
Nevertheless throughout the entire process, Kidman keeps her game face on and seems pleasant while completing the theater task at hand.
