While appearing on Ellen on Friday (4/27), Urban revealed to the audience that his very own spouse sat in the back of the room at a private event recently giving him a hard time during his presentation. Rather than clapping in support or listening intently to his stories, Kidman let out a subtle yell toward the country singer to essentially shut up and sing.
“We were at this Spotify event where I was playing just a couple songs acoustic off the record, talking about the album. Somebody was asking about this song called ‘Parallel Line’ in the audience. Ed Sheeran’s one of the writers and he plays on it, so I’m talking about the song, and I’m talking and talking, and in the back of the room, this woman goes, ‘Play the song.’ And I was like I know that voice anywhere ‘cause it’s my wife heckling me basically,” Urban laughed while talking with the host.
Nevertheless, the “Female” singer posed a challenge for Kidman, because of her bold action, to come up out of the crowd and join him on stage for a little duet. She surprisingly accepted, and went along with the impromptu serenade.
“So I said, ‘Will you come up and do it with me,’ which I never thought she would do because she’s very frustrated and excruciating for her to do. But she did, she got up and sang,” Urban admitted.
During his visit, Urban also performed his duet with Julia Michaels called “Coming Home” on the broadcast, in which fans crowded the stage and danced along to the happy track.
