Nicole Kidman knows she has a unique job. The award winning Hollywood actress has to literally become someone else when she’s at work — even pretending to fall in love for many of her movie roles. So it’s a good thing her husband isn’t the jealous type.

Speaking with E!’s Daily Pop, Kidman explained how her country star husband, Keith Urban, reacts when she gets cast in a steamy romantic roles, or even a sex scene. He’s cool with it is the short answer, but there’s a secret as to why. Kidman says they they are both professionals — and ignorance is bliss.

“He doesn’t know much about what I’m really doing,” she says with a laugh, explaining the dynamic between a celebrity couple who are very public in their deep connection.

Kidman currently co-stars in the dark and dramatic Hulu series, Nine Perfect Strangers, and recently won an Emmy for her role in HBO’s Big Little Lies. That show, especially, featured Kidman in some graphic scenes that wound up being a pivotal part of the plot, but she says her Urban just “gets it.”

“My husband is an artist, so he understands all of it, and he also does not get involved,” Kidman says“He sees the show at the very end when it’s a show, all edited together, and he’s fresh eyes. He doesn’t read any script, he really doesn’t know what’s going on on the set, he’s got his own career that he’s completely absorbed in.”

That’s probably a pretty easy situation for the couple to maintain, since Urban seems to stay perpetually busy. After releasing The Speed of Now Part 1 last fall, he’s got a Top 10 single on his hands in “One Too Many” (with Pink), and enough on-screen work to rival his wife. Urban recently helped kick off the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, performing at the opening ceremony, and will be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone’s September issue.
