While many are hoping for a white Christmas this year, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are betting on sunny days at the beach as they prepare to head home for the holidays. With daughters Sunday Rose, 9, and Faith Margaret, 6, in tow, the couple will return to Australia to enjoy the summer weather.

“We go back to Australia,” the actress told Us Weekly and other reporters at The New York Times Magazine’s Great Performers Issue Celebration in Los Angeles on Thursday, Dec. 7. “My mother and my husband’s mother both live in Australia so we go back home.”

Kidman, who just scored a Golden Globe nomination for her role in Big Little Lies, admitted that their plans are a little unorthodox to those in North America.

“My sister, and [I], we have a big summer Christmas, which I know sounds bizarre to Americans,” she confessed. “We want to be on the beach for Christmas, no snow. We love the ocean and shrimp!”

The Christmas holiday will be a quiet period for the family as they head into a busy 2018, with Urban gearing up to release his highly-anticipated follow-up to Ripcord. Kidman will also spend time preparing for a second season of Big Little Lies, which leads the just-announced Golden Globe nominations with six nods.
