What an exciting night for Old Dominion as they just took the title as the ACM Vocal Group of the Year.
As the guys of the band looked in complete shock over their underdog win, their significant others all cried those happy tears in support of the huge win.
“Wow, this is heavy. A lot of people that make a lot sacrifices in order for us to be up here right now. Our families, our management team people…we’re so lucky. Look at us, look at us! We look good, we feel good, we’re friends and we’re having a ball here. Thank you for letting us make music. Thank you for that,” Matthew Ramsey of the group exclaimed to the crowd.
Old Dominion made their mark throughout 2017 with Happy Endings, which was also nominated for ACM Album of the Year. Their sophomore release sent both “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart” and “Written in the Sand” out to great radio success, with touring efforts filling up their already busy schedule.
It was a close call for who would end up with the coveted trophy in the ACM Vocal Group of the Year category, which included Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum, LANCO and Midland.
The 53rd Annual ACM Awards were hosted by Reba, and aired live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
