“To Be Loved By You” singer Parker McCollum has shared photos from a successful Mountain Lion hunt on Twitter, posing with the huge apex predator in pics posted Monday (November 29).

Seen holding up the massive cat to show its size, and then with it slung across his shoulders and with hunting dogs behind him, the Texas native proudly showed off the highlight of a hunting and fishing vacation in Colorado.

“The hunt of a lifetime today,” he wrote. “Been a dream of mine to harvest a mountain lion and today I finally got to do it! The Aught Six Ranch is a special place.”

According to their Facebook page, The Aught Six Ranch is a Colorado resort specializing in “trophy Elk, Mule Deer, Black Bear, Turkey and Mountain Lion hunting.” McCollum has apparently spent a few days on the picturesque mountainside ranch, having also posted pics of a large rainbow trout on Sunday (November 28).

Mountain Lion hunting is legal in Colorado and regulated by state law, which allows for 180 cats to be taken each year using rifles and hound packs of up to eight dogs, according to the Mountain Lion Foundation. Hunters are required to take an exam and get a license first, and must also check an online database tracking harvest limits before going out.

Unfortunately for him, the trip is likely over now, since McCollum is back on the road December 2 with an opening slot of Old Dominion’s show in Chesterfield, Missouri — but at least he’ll have a wild story to share.

His current single “To Be Loved By You” is inside the country radio Top 20, and in November, McCollum released a live-in-concert video for “Falling Apart” in November. The rising star scored his first Number One with “Pretty Heart” in 2020.
