After sharing news of her cancer diagnosis with fans six months ago, Ashley Monroe has reached a big milestone in her fight — her final chemotherapy treatment.

Posting a joyful video to social media on Wednesday (December 15), the country singer-songwriter and member of Pistol Annies celebrated “ringing the bell” with hospital staff.

“Ring a ling a ling a ding dong ding… My last chemo is done!” Monroe wrote. “Merry Christmas everyone. Thank you for praying for me. I felt them more than you know. I’ve never been more thankful. Ready to Come back like never before in 2022!”

Over the summer, the Tennessee native revealed she has been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia, a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Trouble first showed up after a doctor noticed Monroe was anemic, but luckily the disease is treatable and Monroe started chemotherapy in July, noting that she was optimistic about her recovery.

“I start chemo tomorrow. Seems like such a negative thing to say. Until I flip that doom feeling on its head and think, wow, I’m thankful I have an illness that is VERY live with-able,” she wrote at the time. “I’m thankful there IS a treatment that actually works to fight what is causing harm to my body. THANKFUL for friends and family who have gathered around me praying and sending flowers and letting me lean on them during this super weird chapter of my life. Thankful for my angel son. Who I am fighting for the most.”

Monroe has stayed busy throughout her treatment, as Pistol Annies released their first Christmas album in October, a sass-filled project titled Hell of a Holiday. There was more cause for celebration on Wednesday evening as well, since Monroe joined her Pistol Annies bandmates, Miranda Lambert and Angaleena Presley, for their first-ever Christmas special on Facebook — the Pistol Annies Hell of a Holiday Special hosted by Blair Garner.
