Pistol Annies Featured on New Chieftains Album

Hot new trio Pistol Annies- consisting of Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley- joins The Chieftains, a traditional Irish band, on the new Voice of Ages album. The collection of songs marks The Chieftains 50th anniversary.

The Annies teamed up with The Chieftains for two tracks- “Come All Ye Fair” and “Tender Ladies” (check out the premiere of “Tender Ladies” from USA Today below).

“Pistol Annies took the old Irish melody of ‘Come All Ye Fair’ and ‘Tender Ladies’ and, with the help of The Chieftains, brought it to life in their own unique way,” says Chieftains founder and Voice of Ages co-producer Paddy Moloney (he produced the album alongside famed music producer T Bone Burnett).

In addition to working with Pistol Annies, The Chieftains have teamed up with artists such as Decemberists, Punch Brothers, The Civil Wars, Bon Iver, The Secret Sisters and more. Voice of Ages hits stores February 21.

On a side note- This may solve the mystery of why Pistol Annies were in the studio with Burnett back in October. Initially, we thought the Annies may have been working with Burnett on a song for The Hunger Games soundtrack. Even though this explains it, we’re not ruling out The Hunger Games theory just yet.

In a recent interview with Keepin’ It Country Blog, Presley revealed that the trio is in fact “trying to get on The Hunger Games soundtrack.”

“We cut a song, wrote a song, and are just kind of waiting and hoping that it makes it to the soundtrack,” Presley reveals.
