Rascal Flatts Steps Outside of Their Box on New Album

Country supergroup Rascal Flatts has been hard at work on their forthcoming album for Big Machine Records for more than a year now. The trio, who recently debuted “Rewind,” the lead single from the album, says they stepped outside the box and outside their comfort zone a bit when it came time to choose songs for the project.

“You know, a song is a song that kind of tells the same story it’s just trying to tell it differently in a newer and fresher way,” Gary Levox says. “And I think that’s what we did. I think we kind of went outside the Rascal Flatts box and took some chances on some songs that we probably wouldn’t have cut before in the past.”

The band also took some chances in the record studio as well. “We really concentrated on having fun and not staying into some core perspective of ‘this is what we’re gonna sing about, this is what we’re gonna do.’ We really just had a blast and the best songs rose to the top and I think ‘Rewind’ is a great way to debut the new album that drops in June. So we’re thrilled to have this music out and just can’t wait for everybody to hear it.”
