A song performed by country great Reba McEntire was nominated for an 2022 Oscar on Tuesday morning (February 8), with the iconic hitmaker’s “Somehow You Do” listed in the Best Original Song category.

A weary-hearted by resolute ballad featured in the film Four Good Days starring Mila Kunis and Glenn Close, a win for the track would go to songwriter Diane Warren — not McEntire — but the country superstar was celebrating the news all the same.

“Congratulations to Diane Warren on her #Oscars nomination for “Somehow You Do”!” McEntire posted to Instagram, captioning a friendly photo of the pair. “Thanks for allowing me to be a part of another one of your beautiful creations. #SomehowYouDo #FourGoodDays

McEntire’s delivery of the moving ballad touched Warren’s song with equal parts sadness and strength, and the song served a central role in Four Good Days — which is about a family struggling to overcome addiction. She first unveiled the track back in April, along with a video directed by Jon Avnet.

Now part of one of Oscars’ premiere categories, it will have some stiff competition when the 94th Academy Awards take place. Also in the Best Original Song field are “Be Alive” from King Richard (by DIXSON and Beyoncé), “Dos Oruguitas” from Encanto (by Lin-Manuel Miranda), “Down to Joy” from Belfast (by Van Morrison) and “No Time To Die” from No Time to Die (by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell).

Meanwhile, actress and part-time Nashville local Nicole Kidman was also nominated, with a huge nod in the Best Actress category for her portrayal of Lucile Ball in Being the Ricardos. Power of the Dog starring Benedict Cumberbatch leads the Oscar field with 12 nominations, while the Dune remake nabs 10.

The 94th Academy Awards will take place March 27 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angele, broadcasting live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
