It’s the cry we’ve heard far too long – where are the ladies? Country music’s gender disparity continues as not one woman was nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the upcoming ACM Awards. When the nominations were revealed on CBS This Morning early on Wednesday, Feb. 20, ACM host Reba McEntire had an immediate reaction to the all-male category.

“It doesn’t make me very happy,” McEntire said in response to Gayle King’s questioning of her feelings, “because we’ve got some very talented women who are out there working their butts off … I’m missing my girlfriends on this.”

After revealing the nominees for Entertainer, plus Male Artist and Female Artist of the Year, McEntire chatted more about her love life and upcoming album.

“I wanted to go back to my roots,” explained the songstress of her new album, Stronger Than The Truth. “I’ve got real strong country songs…and story songs. And songs you can dance to. Western swing, two-stepping. Songs that I grew up with.”

The 54th Annual ACM Awards, hosted by Reba, will broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 8 p.m. ET/delayed PT on CBS.
