Singer, songwriter, actress and breast cancer-survivor Rita Wilson shared the first single “Throw Me A Party,” from her upcoming new album on Friday (2/22).

“So when I’m gone, throw me a party, you should dance as if I was there,” she sings in the track’s wistfully beautiful chorus. Accompanied by a simple yet gorgeous mix of guitar, piano and drums, Wilson uses her soft vocals and introspective lyrics to reflect on her life.

“When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I had so many different thoughts,” the entertainer said. “You’re scared, anxious, you think about your own mortality, so I had a serious discussion with my husband that if anything happens, what I’d like is a party, a celebration.”

She used this story as the basis for the song, which she wrote with Liz Rose and Kristian Bush. The personal tune defined many areas of the album, she said.

Wilson’s forthcoming record, titled Halfway To Home, will drop March 29.
