Russell Dickerson has had a whirlwind month after recently welcoming his first child with his wife, Kailey. But in times of celebration, the singer is also opening up about a sad loss he faced recently.

The “Every Little Thing” singer took to his Instagram to let friends and fans know about the passing of his grandmother on the same day his son was brought into the world. Instead of letting out a mourning spirit though, Dickerson tried to bring light to a sorrowful situation.

“*Sept 10, 2020* God brought a baby into this world, and He also took an angel home. My sweet Nanny went to heaven that morning and just hours later Remington Edward was born. God is so amazing like that and I know in some unseen way they crossed paths coming and going from this world and she got to meet her perfect little great grand baby,” Dickerson recalled.

Along with the reflective caption, Dickerson put up a side-by-side picture reel of him kissing his newborn baby and a throwback of his Nanny looking at him as a baby lovingly. The resemblance is uncanny, and Dickerson believes the love his grandmother showed to him will be carried on.

“We miss you so much Nanny but you’re home and I know you’re cookin up the best biscuits n’ gravy heavens ever had,” Dickerson said.

Dickerson and his wife, Kailey, welcomed their son, Remington Edward Dickerson, into the world on September 10 at 3:23 p.m. Both mother and son were healthy after delivery, with baby Remington weighing in at 10 lbs., 4 oz.

The Dickersons are adjusting comfortably to a family of three at home as they continue to share snapshots of their baby boy to their social media. In the meantime, fans can stream or purchase Dickerson’s latest single, “Love You Like I Used To,” now.
