Over the course of 2016, Ryan Follese has been working hard in the studio and on the stage to make a name for himself in the country format. With a couple radio singles under his belt and a debut EP released out to his fans in the fall, the country newcomer is now ready to see what 2017 has in store.

Rather than let the end of the year get ahead of him, Follese decided to take a bold move by releasing his single, “Put a Label on It,” out  to the masses to tell the true-life story that came from a define-the-relationship moment he faced in a prior relationship.

“The inspiration for that song definitely came from a real life situation I found myself in, which was getting into that defining the relationship scenario. I wrote it kinda from the girl’s perspective of her clothes being in your closet and stuff, but really the truth of the matter is that’s kinda what I did to my girlfriend. So I wrote it from a mixed perspective. But the idea really is about the guy taking the initiative and when you’re in that phase for better or worse whether it works out or not, being one to be confident and at least bring up that conversation on, my hopes were that the song would encourage and help people in that interim phase,” he told Sounds Like Nashville in an exclusive interview.

With that hit and “Float Your Boat” in his country repertoire, Follese dedicated himself to writing day after day for a project to be released in the new year. While the writing never ends for the singer, he seems to be anxious in making his pen-to-paper musical experience available to all of his fans out there very soon.

“Actually, the record’s done,” he admitted. “We did 15 songs for it. We’re probably gonna choose 13, but I’d be lying if I said we’re done writing for it. I mean, we finished the record, but I definitely have the bug. I’ve been on the road for the last four to five months and I have the bug to get back in and overwrite some of the stuff that’s on the record. A lot of life has happened since then and there’s definitely some experience I’d like to get down on paper and get out there.”

But before he can settle into a set release date of possibly sometime during the summer, Follese has his calendar booked as the opener for both LoCash and Florida Georgia Line during the majority of the beginning of the year. Soaking in each career opportunity as another experience to learn, Follese hopes he can also excite the fans he plans to make along the way.

“I’ve got about a 20 minute set, so I’m going to try to pack as much of an experience in 20 minutes that you could possibly do. I’ve definitely been the headliner before and been the opener, and I know the difference between the two. You gotta give them a lot, a real strong dose of what you represent and who you are in a short amount of time. But it’s gonna be a really, really fun set,” he explained to SLN.

Fans can check out the new music video for Follese’s current single, “Put a Label on It,” now and be sure to keep up with him on tour for 2017 by looking at his website.
