“To a T” Singer Ryan Hurd has some game-show style fun in a new video premiering on Sounds Like Nashville today (April 23rd). The hit songwriter and emerging artist sits down to play a country-music version of “The Emoji Game,” and fans can play along, too.

In the video, Hurd has to guess song titles based only on some truly inventive emoji combinations. That should be an easy task, especially considering how many of the titles are actually hit songs that Hurd himself wrote. But it’s actually harder than it sounds.

He does well on songs like his romantic, chart-rising single “To a T,” and also most of the chart toppers he’s written for other artists like “You Look Good” by Lady Antebellum and “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” by Luke Bryan – which is Hurd’s latest No.1 as a writer. But by the time he gets to Dierks Bentley’s “Burning Man” featuring Brothers Osborne or Tim McGraw’s “Last Turn Home” – which Hurd wrote with his wife, Maren Morris – he’s pretty much stumped.

For now, though, Hurd’s steamy “To a T” featuring Morris on background vocals is working its way up the Billboard charts, and it’s already been streamed more than 24 million times on Spotify alone.

He’s been playing it to capacity crowds all over the country on his headlining To a Tour, and on Thursday and Friday (April 25th – 26th) he’ll play back-to-back nights in Atlanta, hitting up Terminal West and the Georgia Theater. Then it’s back to Music City for an early-morning show that coincides with both the 2019 NFL Draft and this year’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon. Taking the NFL Experience Stage at 9 a.m. on Saturday (April 27th), he’ll welcome about 30,000 runners as they cross the finish line, and kick off another day of football fandom at the same time.
