Ryan Kinder Gets ‘Deconstructed’ in Live ‘Close’ Performance Video

“It was just doing that one take live, see what happens raw and real. If we get it wrong, you're going to hear it. That's kind of the idea of the Deconstructed,” Kinder explained.

Ryan Kinder is quickly making a name for himself in country music with his single, “Close.” Dubbed by Kinder as the “prequel to a love story,” the track has quickly blown up on Spotify with nearly 17 million plays and has become a fan favorite during his rowdy live performances.

As the song’s popularity continues to grow, Kinder has decided to introduce a “Deconstructed” version of the song, giving fans a grittier look at the song with no cover-ups or studio tricks in the live performance video.

“It was just doing that one take live, see what happens raw and real. If we get it wrong, you’re going to hear it. That’s kind of the idea of the Deconstructed,” Kinder told Sounds Like Nashville of the clip. “Also, to just strip it down a little bit so it is something different; and to have the video aspect, just to be able to see the bands and see the girls singing… Just that live aspect.”

The ‘live aspect’ is something Kinder takes seriously, whether it’s performing for a crowd of country fans, or filming a video in an empty venue. The singer leaves his passion on the stage, hoping that fans walk away knowing he put everything out there.

“I think they’ll take away that this is real raw,” he said. “There’s nothing fake about what we’re doing. We’re up there playing, singing all our own instruments, and then I hope they take away that, ‘Oh, these songs are great. Oh, he’s not just a singular sort of genre. I believe what he’s saying in a song.’”
