Sam Hunt Reveals Origin of ‘Lipstick Graffiti’ Tour Name

ACM New Artist of the Year nominee Sam Hunt is gearing up for his first headlining tour, which kicks off in Los Angeles this Thursday (1/29) at the Troubadour. The title of his tour, Lipstick Graffiti, is one that may turn some heads, so he recently took time to explain its origin.

“The phrase Lipstick Graffiti comes from a song that I wrote a couple of years ago called ‘Vandalizer,’” Hunt said. “The opening line from the song says ‘Lipstick Graffiti on the bathroom mirror.’”

When he was trying to think of a name for his tour, he looked at lyrics from old songs to find catchy phrases or buzz words that caught his attention. Something about Lipstick Graffiti just stood out.

“When I look at that phrase, I feel [it] captures what we’re going to do be doing on this tour,” Hunt explained. “It just fit.”

Sam’s current single, “Take Your Time,” recently hit the Top 25 on the country charts. He performed the song on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” last week. Check out his performance below.
