Sam Hunt Talks ‘Take Your Time’

Sam Hunt

“Take Your Time” has been very good to Sam Hunt. The track, which is the follow up to Hunt’s No.1 debut single, “Leave The Night On,” is now in the Top 5 on the country charts. It also has a powerful music video, which could serve as a PSA against domestic violence, to accompany it.

The song is special to the Georgia native for a number of reasons.

“’Take Your Time’ is a song I wrote two or three years ago, and it was sort of my first experience using a unique cadence in the verses and flowing from that spoken thing into a melody and then back again,” he explains.

It’s also a song, he points out, that showcases the R&B influence that’s present in a lot of his music.

“I’ve always been really attracted to that rhythmic style of music,” he says. “It’s a song that I’ve had for a while and been most antsy about putting it out, because it is one of the first songs I wrote when I started working on my own project.”

“Take Your Time” recently became Hunt’s second consecutive RIAA-certified Gold single.
