Get your shades on, because Sara Evans is getting ready to light up the airwaves with her new single Marquee Sign.

The song is not as bright and happy as the title may suggest. In Marquee Sign, Evans wishfully sings about how much easier it would have been she had more warning signs for a love gone wrong, a feeling far too many of us are familiar with. If only there had been better signs that the relationship was headed south, she would not have had to waste her time and deal with the pain of the breakup.

“If you woulda been lit up like a marquee sign / Coulda saved myself some wasted time / From the minute I found you / If it’d been written out in black and white / Maybe then I would have told my mind / Not to get wrapped around you / I should have known it from the start / You were only here to break my heart.”

The track, written by Evans, Jimmy Robbins, and Heather Morgan, is a special one for the songstress because it features vocals by her daughter, Olivia Evans.

“Having Olivia sing on ‘Marquee Sign’ is such a special moment for me, not only as a mom but also as a fan,” said Sara. “I was so impressed when she went in the vocal booth and started singing these really cool parts and ad-libs at the end of the song! My fans have watched her grow up on the road with me and I can’t wait for them to hear her on this song.”

You can Olivia predominately at the end of the track singing soaring, echo-y ad-libs that add a haunting element of longing to the powerful song.

Marquee Sign is the lead single from  Sara Evans’s upcoming album WordsThe album will be released on July 21 on Evans’s own label, Born To Fly Records. Additional details about Words will be revealed in the coming weeks.
