Scotty McCreery Pops the Question to Longtime Girlfriend
The couple have been dating for six years, and got together during their senior year of high school in North Carolina.
Sorry, ladies—Scotty McCreery is officially off the market after he proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Gabi Dugal.
The news sent shockwaves throughout the country music community although McCreery had been getting everything together for the big moment for quite some time. Admitting that he’s been anxiously awaiting the proposal while working up all the little details, he’s happy that his lovely lady said yes in the end.
“I’ve been planning this moment for so long that it feels surreal for it to have finally happened,” said McCreery. “Gabi is the perfect girl and my true love, and I cannot wait to begin building our life together as husband and wife.”
On Tuesday (Sept. 26), McCreery took Dugal to one of their favorite places in the world, which just so happened a mountain range near Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. After going on a lengthy hike with one another on one of their beloved trails, McCreery worked up the courage to ask for Dugal’s hand in marriage once they reached the very top. Saying yes as she was presented a custom-made ring created to her desires, McCreery became the happiest man in the world.
Fans have always supported McCreery throughout the relationship, giving them all the kind words and attention whenever the two shared a precious moment online.
“My fans instantly embraced Gabi once they learned we were dating and have always been loving towards her,” McCreery shared. “When she graduated college last year, many of them brought me gifts for her at my shows and book signings. I will always appreciate their kindness to her.”
Their love story started long ago, when the couple met back in grade school. Growing up with one another, Dugal admittedly used to doodle ‘Mrs. Gabi McCreery’ all over her notebook with happy hearts circling the imaginative name. They eventually began dating during their senior year of high school and have been together for the past six years. Dugal even made cameos in a few of his music videos including “Feelin’ It” and the video for his latest single, “Five More Minutes.”
Dugal graduated from the University of North Carolina and works as a nurse in the pediatric cardiology department at Duke University Hospital. McCreery will continue to promote his music throughout the end of the year, before the couple plans to tie the knot sometime in 2018.
