Scotty McCreery is officially working on his fifth studio album. The 26-year-old singer has already been writing songs for the project, and he’ll be heading to the studio to record those songs in the coming months.

“We’ll be in the studio in December, and we’re going to be starting the next album and getting things rolling, so it’s exciting. It’s always a good time in the studio,” McCreery says. “[I’ve] been writing a lot, and a lot of great songs will be coming in from the outside writers as well, so I can’t wait. It’s my favorite time of the year in the studio, the creative process, all the magic that’s happening.”

As far as what kinds of songs to expect on the new project, McCreery says he’s been pulling inspiration from his personal life, and writing about his wife, Gabi. The two tied the knot in June 2018.

“I write a lot about my wife. It’s kind of the main thing in my life that’s been going on, and the best thing for sure, so it’s hard not to write about it,” he says.

McCreery has had a busy couple of years, earning two No. 1 hits from his latest album, Seasons Change, and headlining his own tour. Things won’t be slowing down in 2020 either, as McCreery assures fans he’ll be hitting the road once again.

“We’re going to be busy again,” he says. “We’re going to do a big summer tour, so we’ll be out all summer long, and that’s exciting. We’re going to stay busy and keep grinding and just having fun.”
