Scotty McCreery fans… get ready! The “American Idol” winner is hard at work on his sophomore album, which is expected to drop this October. McCreery has already released the first single from the yet-to-be titled project and he’s working hard at figuring out what other songs will make the cut.

“We’ve over-cut, which is so nice,” the “See You Tonight” singer said of the 18 songs he has in his back pocket for the project. He also hinted that there may be a surprise guest making an appearance on the new album. “We’re 90 percent sure that we’ve got a big-time singer that’s going to come on this track with me,” he told fans during his fan club party during CMA Fest.

McCreery has already been previewing new music at his live shows. One song that’s become a fan favorite is called “Suntan.” “I want to apologize to all of you who have come to a show and been bopped on the head by a beach ball,” he said when introducing the new track. “We always try to kick them as far as we can, but they always wind up right back here [on stage].”

McCreery returned to the studio early this week to continue working on the new record.

The album is the follow up to McCreery’s immensely successful debut album, Clear As Day. The album went platinum and debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart upon it’s release.
