Scotty McCreery’s 2012 schedule is looking pretty hectic already.

He’s been on the road with Brad Paisley and The Band Perry on the Virtual Reality World Tour 2012 (which was recently extended by 43 dates), his single “The Trouble With Girls” was just certified gold, and he’s a nominee for the 2012 ACM New Artist of the Year. The 18-year-old also has plans to attend college in the fall and continue his music career while continuing his education. So what’s going to do in his off time?

Play baseball, of course. Scotty’s high school baseball team in Garner, NC, is getting its pitcher back. He’s been on the team for a few years, but he wasn’t able to play last year due to ‘American Idol’ conflicts. Still, he’ll be back after missing the first few games of the season.

“I have a feeling, though, it’s gonna be rough,” he tells ABC News Radio. “I’m a pitcher, so I have a feeling when I get on the mound guys are gonna be taunting me and stuff. I’m just gonna blow it off and strike ‘em out!”

Like any true friends, his teammates don’t care about his star status: he had to try out just like every other member. “Singing don’t really mean you can really play ball well,” he laughs. “So, they had to see if I had a little something left in me.”

He’s back on the team, so he’s still got it!
