While in Nashville for appearances at the 2011 CMT Music Awards and the 2011 CMA Music Festival, country superstar Shania Twain was honored for selling more than 75 million albums worldwide, making her the top-selling female artist in country music history.

Twain, along with members of the industry who helped launch her career, gathered at the Citizen club in Music City on Thursday (6/9) to celebrate the news.

Twain also announced last week that she will begin a two year residency at at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Click HERE for the full story.

Twain’s first new music is six years, “Today Is Your Day,” went to country radio this week.

“The purpose of writing ‘Today Is Your Day’ in the first place was self-inspiration,” Shania says. “I was talking to myself and saying, “Today is your day. You can do it!” But the decision to even write the song and share it was a big decision for me, to find myself as a songwriter again, independently, for the very first time after all these years.”

“Today Is Your Day” is available on iTunes now.
