Shania Twain Honors Kelly Preston With Meaningful Tribute

Actress Kelly Preston passed away at the age of 57 from breast cancer. The star and wife to John Travolta battled the horrible disease for nearly two years before succumbing to its effects.

“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer,” Travolta wrote on Instagram early Monday morning (7/13). “She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side.

“Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered,” he continued. “I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal.”

Preston’s affect on other’s lives was felt around the world and particularly with the people she met along the way. Among those honoring the late actress was Shania Twain, who got to know Preston while on set for the film Trading Paint, in which she starred alongside Travolta.

“I’m unbelievably saddened by the news that Kelly Preston has passed and at such a young age. A beautiful and kind person I was fortunate enough to have known. My heart breaks for John and the kids,” she wrote with a photo posted to Instagram.

Preston leaves behind her husband of nearly 30 years, John Travolta, and two children, Ella and Benjamin. She’s best known for her roles in Jerry McGuire, What a Girl Wants, Mischief, The Cat in the Hat and much more.
