Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney, like most people, is staying at home to stop the spread of coronavirus. With all the extra time at home, many people are getting creative on ways to spend their time, and for Mooney, he decided to shave off his beard. It all started with a poll on his Instagram story.
“I haven’t been clean-shaven in 10 years,” he wrote. “Should I do it?”
Mooney didn’t even wait for the poll time to expire before he followed up with his next story, a photo of his face without his beard and sporting a mustache.
“Good time I don’t have to go in public anytime soon,” he wrote.
For his next story, Mooney committed to the task by shaving off all his facial hair, which makes him look dramatically different.
“I’m 12,” he wrote.
Mooney is no doubt staying busy at home with his wife Hannah, two-month-old son Ames, and three-year-old son Asher. Dan + Shay were one of the many bands that made the choice to postpone their tour in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. They rescheduled their spring tour, The Arena Tour, to run July through October. The band posted a statement about the tour on March 12.
“After the mandatory postponement of our Philadelphia show, and several others in the coming weeks, we have made the collective decision (with our team and health officials) to postpone the spring leg of THE (ARENA) TOUR,” the band wrote. “These shows mean the world to us, and it was important that they be postponed and not canceled, but more than the shows, our fans mean the world to us, and protecting their safety is the number one priority. We want the shows to be memorable, and not experienced with fear.”
