Shay Mooney may be new to fatherhood, but he’s focusing on his love of family and music for his first annual Father’s Day celebration.

With Dan + Shay’s single, “How Not To,” reaching the top of the charts, Mooney bets his high hopes that when his own parents come to visit their new grandchild, they’ll also be honoring a top accomplishment for the duo with a No. 1 hit under their belts. While he doesn’t want to get too ahead of himself, Mooney’s banking on the weekend plans with an optimistic perspective.

“For Father’s Day, my family’s coming up,” Mooney revealed to Sounds Like Nashville recently. “They’re coming up next Sunday, so we’ll be hopefully celebrating a No. 1 then. So that would be a really great Father’s Day gift would be a No. 1. I can’t imagine a better gift than that. So yeah, my family’s all coming up and hopefully we’ll be celebrating.”

As many parents do, Mooney spends a lot of his time on the road adjusting to the idea that he’s not with his family, especially his little guy Asher. He and his fiancée Hannah try to travel together as much as they can, but the singer still misses his family back in Nashville whenever tour starts to roll out.

“Leaving little Asher at home is very difficult. I miss him very, very much. So when he gets a little bit older, we’ll have to have a…we have a dog bus now where we can bring the dogs, we gotta have a baby bus maybe a little smaller. But it’s very difficult to leave him whenever we go out on the road,” Mooney admitted.

Dan + Shay will be spending their Father’s Day out on the road as they have plans to tour all summer long with more information about tickets and dates on their website.
