Three of the most celebrated women in rock history team up for a roosty, all-star jam on “Live Wire,” Sheryl Crow’s new cut with icons Bonnie Raitt and Mavis Staples.

Part of Crow’s upcoming Threads collaboration album – which comes out August 30th and will also feature Johnny Cash, Keith Richards, Stevie Nicks and more – the track finds her trading bluesy verses with two of her musical heroes. A loose feeling swamp-rock jam with soulful vocals and an irresistible groove, it’s abstract lyrics are all about living life at the highest voltage possible.

“Some people just built that way / Never lookin’ back at the mess they’ve made / I got a live wire,” sing the trio in the song’s chorus.

A short-but-sweet video of Crow, Raitt and Staples rehearsing the track has also been released, helping to show how much the collaboration means to Crow.

“Mavis Staples means so much more to me than any words I could write about her,” Crow explains in a statement about the song. “I feel like, in many ways, she is the Godmother to Bonnie Raitt. To say that having both of these soulful women on ‘Live Wire’ is a treat would be a huge understatement.”

Crow previously released “Redemption Day” featuring Johnny Cash from her upcoming Threads project, which the nine-time Grammy Award-winner has said will likely be her final album. She’s got a summer full of globe-trotting tour dates on tap, with shows across the U.S. joined by stops in Canada, the U.K. and Europe.
